Mid Century Jewish Mawrtyrs

Considering Moving to Rhoads

For one thing, you selected a dorm, and a lot of people knew the dorms [before coming to campus], so they knew where they wanted to go. I had no clue. There seemed to be a cluster of the more society – if you will – women, girls. In Pembroke East and Pembroke West, they cleared out almost every weekend. I was in Pem [Pembroke] East, I'm not sure it was the right place for me, but I stayed. I stayed because I'd made friends.

Did you have other Jewish friends on campus?

Yeah. Yes, I did actually. I did. Nobody who lived in Pem East, or Pem West. In fact, one year I thought of transferring to another, moving to another dorm the following year and then I said, "No, I'm comfortable here." But yes, yes, I did [have Jewish friends].

What dorm did you think about moving to?

I was thinking about moving to Rhoads, because I did have friends there, and they were Jewish friends there.
