Workshops and Events

The Makerspace encourages any Bryn Mawr student, faculty or staff member to attend our scheduled workshops and demo hours. Find a list of upcoming events below.

Would you like to request a workshop or demonstration for your class, club, or group? Please reach out to us at makerspace@brynmawr.edu to let us know your needs.

All events take place in Park 157 unless otherwise noted.

Getting Started/Drop in:
Laser Cutting and Engraving
Wednesday, April 19th 6-8pm

Join us between 6 and 8pm: bring an image or shape that you’d like to etch or cut on acrylic or plywood. Need some inspiration? Choose a keychain template and personalize it with your name, meaningful quote or quick digital doodle!

Getting Started/Drop in:
Digital Embroidery
Sunday April 23 from 2-4pm

Interested in designing your own patches or embellishments using our embroidery machine? We’ll show you how to set up an image using digitizing software and walk you through basic setup and troubleshooting on the Babylock Alliance, our embroidery machine!

Make your own crochet owl!
All levels of experience welcome.

Makerpsace Pop Up:
Sewing Clinic at the Cloisters
Thursday, April 27 2-8pm

Need to alter, embellish or repair your May Day garments? Join us in the Cloisters where we’ll have sewing machines and craft supplies available for use. No experience with sewing? No problem! We’ll show you how everything works and help troubleshoot your garment construction issues!

Are you wearing white? Are you concerned about costume malfunctions, grass stains, or wayward threads? Never fear! Makerspace staff will be on hand to make sure you (and your May Day gear) are at their best with on-the-spot support for clothing repair, stain treatments and quick fixes.

We’re looking forward to connecting with Bryn Mawr Alumns from near and far! Visit us in the Makerspace to see some of the resources available to Bryn Mawr students and pick up a small keepsake to take home!
