Welcome to the Makerspace

The Makerspace exists to give all members of the Bryn Mawr College community the opportunities, resources and support they need to learn, experiment and develop as builders, designers and makers. We look forward to learning and evolving with the community as we grow into our space in Park 157.

During the 2020-2021 academic year the Makerspace is open and available by appointment– currently our laser cutter, printer/plotter, sewing machines and general craft resources are available, and we anticipate 3D printing, RISO printing and limited woodshop access to be available before the end of the semester. We look forward to a full launch, with expanded hours, access and student staff in Fall of 2021.

Workshops and instruction will be delivered online and on-site as appropriate. Appointments for tool use and in-person consultations will be required to ensure that our space can be accessed in a safe and equitable way.

Our goals are to:

  • Provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive space where any member of the Bryn Mawr College community can explore and develop their own making practices.
  • Support the educational and pedagogical work of students, faculty and staff on campus.
  • Provide resources and guidance to those interested in digital and traditional design and fabrication methods.
  • Highlight work related to critical making and material culture.
